King Island Golf and Bowling Club is found at Currie, on the Island's west coast. King Island is 80 kilometres NW of Tasmania, a 50 minute flight north west of Wynyard or an hour and twenty minutes from Devonport. Golf was first played in Currie in 1910, and the Golf Club was formed in 1931. The golf course is an authentic coastal links course and features exceptional ocean vistas. Entirely open to the elements, the westerlies can impact on your game at just about every hole. One highlight is the third, par three hole, where you play from the clifftop looking out towards the ocean. The two-day King Island Open, held here in November, attracts more than 100 golfers from around Australia and further afield. The Open includes 18-hole and 36-hole events for ladies and men as well as a 36-hole junior handicap event.
