by Golf Australia

Play 9 in 2020!

Ever wanted to play at the home of golf, St Andrews? Here’s your chance!

We’re offering golfers around Australia the chance to win the experience of a lifetime – play your way to the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews in 2021 through the Play 9 national event.

28 golfers – four per state/territory association – will win the chance to play nine holes at Kingston Heath Golf Club at the 2020 Men’s Australian Open.

The four qualifiers will travel to Melbourne in late 2020 and receive the following at no cost:

  • A weekend pass for the 2020 Men’s Australian Open as guests of Golf Australia;

  • Return economy air travel to Melbourne from the nearest major city in the player’s state/territory;

  • Two nights’ accommodation (Friday and Saturday nights);

  • $200 grant to cover local transport and meals in Melbourne;

  • Attendance at the Play 9 presentation reception;

  • Tickets to the Australian Open champion’s cocktail reception on Sunday evening;

  • A player gift pack.

  • A male winner and a female winner of the national Play 9 final will receive the ultimate prize of a trip for two to the 150th Open Championship at St Andrews in Scotland, where they will participate in the International 9 Hole Challenge final on the Old Course before the Open Championship.

Clubs and facilities around the country are running qualifying competitions from 2 March – 11 October 2020. If yours doesn’t yet have one planned, there is plenty of time for persuasion!

You can play in multiple competitions, but you must have an official Golf Australia handicap to be eligible.
