Jeneath Wong & Rupert Toomey crowned champions on the Murray

Rupert Toomey and Jeneath Wong have taken out their respective titles in the Golf Australia Murray River Junior Masters.

With changes to the NSW-VIC border restrictions after the second day’s play, the event was reduced to 36-holes and winners awarded on their scores from the two rounds.

Wong was outstanding across the two days with scores of 71 and 69 at Cobram Barooga and Tocumwal Golf Clubs, respectively, to finish at five-under for the tournament.

Finishing runner-up to Wong was Amelia Harris who returned scores of 75 and 71.

Harris would also take home the prize for the leading gross score in the under 14 girls.

In the boys’ championship, Toomey continued his outstanding recent form with a two-shot victory over Baxter Droop and Bailey Goodall.

Toomey finished with a one-under total of 143 for the two days which also saw him crowned the under 14 boys’ champion.

In the net sections, Ty Murray led the boys with his 143 total, one shot clear of Cody Brenner and Anton Kovacevic, and added the under 16 net trophy to go with it.

Taylah Robinson produced rounds of 71 and 75 net to claim the overall girls net trophy, three shots clear of Jazy Roberts.

In the under 16 sections, Goodall took out the boys’ gross, four shots clear of Cody Brenner on 149 whilst Billie Tate was victorious in the girls’ division on 177, four clear of Aleisha Hannam-Lewis.

The under 14s saw Anton Kovacevic finish runner-up to Toomey in the boys whilst Jessica Zhu was runner-up in the girls to Harris.

Samuel Snelgar and Arena Tran claimed the net prizes.
