Webb backs public golf

by Mark Hayes

Karrie Webb has painted a clear picture of the immense value of public golf to the Australian community.

Speaking on Australian Golf Media’s Inside The Ropes recently, World Golf Hall of Fame member Webb said it was important to consider all levels of the sport when making key decisions and even reporting on the golf industry and its future.

“We (tend to) only think of the pointy end of the stick as far as elite golf courses,” the seven-time major champions said.

“But there are many public golf courses out there that are providing the same social interaction while being out in nature in the middle of the city.

“Those clubs are doing really well at this time.”
