Victorian Four-Ball champions crowned

The Vic Four-Ball Championships have come to a close for 2021 as day two of the State Final wrapped up at The National Golf Club. Biljana and John Krunic (Hepburn Springs GC) teamed up to win the mixed section, the pairing of Susan Barber and Lynette Vildovas (Commercial Albury GC) won the women’s section, and Simon Richards (Spring Valley GC) along with Declan Robinson (RACV Cape Schanck) took out the men’s section. In the mixed event, Jan Lovett and Richard Deyell (Lakeside GC – Melb) carded 42 points at Sorrento Golf Club to muster a two-point lead after round one. Day two resulted in Lovett and Deyell handing their lead over to overall winners Biljana and John Krunic, who managed to steal the lead with an impressive 44 points at The National Golf Club. After trailing in tied second overnight, Noel and Maree Fitzgerald (Coleraine GC) returned a score of 43 points on the challenging Gunnamatta course to hold second place over Emma Hoang and Vince Di Battista (Latrobe GC). After trailing post round one at Sorrento Golf Club in the women's event, Susan Barber and Lynette Vildovas returned a score of 41 points to win the title with 85 points. The Commercial Albury duo finished one shot clear of overnight leaders Malissa Wheatley and Jennifer Stephenson who after carding an impressive 44 points on day one, finished on 84 points. Ange West and Kath Fleming (Clifton Springs) held their third position throughout the championship, with scores of 42 in round one and 40 in round two to finish with a steady 82 points overall. Amongst a host of impressive scores at Sorrento on day one of the men's event, Dennis Moschoyiannis & Adrian Gigliotti (Spring Valley) managed to top the field with 48 points. The pair unfortunately could not maintain their lead after round two, as Richards and Robinson took their place as outright leaders with 43 points after a challenging round. Namitha Fernando and Dean Cartwright (Woodlands) finished in second place with steady scores of 47-40 whilst overnight leaders Moschoyiannis and Gigliotti took out third place on 87 points.
