Victorian Pennant kicks off

The 2021 Victorian Pennant Competition commenced on Sunday at 10 venues across Melbourne.

The start to the 2021 season has been much anticipated after the 2020 season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it was fantastic to see the team spirit on display.

2019 Women’s Champions, Huntingdale, narrowly defeated Metropolitan 4-3. Similarly, 2019 Men’s Champions, Royal Melbourne, nudged out Kingston Heath in a 4-3 thriller. Reigning Colts champions, Royal Melbourne, tied their contest with Peninsula-Kingswood at 2.5 matches apiece.

The 2021 Victorian Pennant season sees 47 teams contesting Men’s Pennant, 32 teams competing in Women’s Pennant, 33 teams in Colts, and 29 teams contesting Friday Women’s Pennant.

Sunday was the first of seven rounds, with the Finals being played on Sunday 2 May.
