The President, Board and Staff of Golf Victoria (GV) express their deepest sympathy at the passing of much respected former Victorian Golf Association (VGA) and GV Board Council Member, Mr. Harvey Ashton, aged 74 years.

A member of the Woodlands and Box Hill Golf Clubs, including serving as a director and former Club President at Box Hill, Harvey was elected to the VGA Council in 2010 and then to inaugural elected Board of Golf Victoria in May 2011. He made an outstanding contribution to Victorian Golf over that time, particularly via his involvement with the VGA Planning/Development, Match and Turf Advisory Committees and with the GV’s Member Services and Finance Committees.

Over the duration of his involvement in State golf, Harvey especially enjoyed his involvement with the Men’s and Women’s Victorian Open undertaking several volunteer roles including tee starting and official scoring duties.

Harvey’s funeral will be held at 1pm on Friday 17 December at Heritage Funerals Wantirna, 733 Boronia Road, Wantirna. Following the service, a wake will be held next door at the Wantirna Hill Club.

Golf Victoria’s sincere condolences are extended to his wife Robyne, children Megan and Drew and the Ashton family at this time. Harvey was a thorough gentleman with a passion for golf, a friend to all and will be sadly missed.
