The President, Board and Staff of Golf Victoria (GV) express their deepest sympathy at the passing of much respected former Victorian Golf Association (VGA) Council Member, Mr. Barry Donaldson, aged 91 years.

A member of the Woodlands Golf Club for more than 50 years, including serving as a director and Club Captain, Barry was elected to the VGA Council in 1992 before retiring in 2002. He made an outstanding contribution to Victorian Golf over that time, particularly via his involvement with the areas of Planning and Development, Finance, GV Magazine and the Vic Open.

Barry especially enjoyed his involvement with the Golf Victoria magazine and seeing the many and varied stories within Victorian golf clubs being brought to life and told through the publication.

He was also a longtime member and past Committee member of the Golf Society of Australia which also carries out the role as Golf Australia’s Museum Committee. Barry made a significant contribution to the Society serving on Committee from 2002 -2009

Golf Victoria’s sincere condolences are extended to his wife Gloria and the Donaldson family at this time. Barry was a thorough gentleman with a passion for golf, a friend to all and will be sadly missed.

Family and friends of Barry are warmly welcomed to celebrate his life at a Memorial Service on Wednesday 18 May 2022 commencing at 2.30pm at W.D. Rose Funerals 139 Marriage Rd, Brighton East.
