Top 5 for Kemp in Florida
by Martin Blake
Sarah Kemp logged four rounds under par to complete one of the best weeks of her career on the LPGA Tour today.
The 35-year-old Australian finished tied-fifth at the LPGA Gainbridge event at Lake Nona in Florida, the fifth top-10 finish of her career.
Her only higher finish was T2 at the ISPS Handa Vic Open in 2019 at 13th Beach.
Kemp shot 70-69-70-69 to finish at 10 under par, six behind runaway winner Nelly Korda, who continued the golden run for the Korda family. Her elder sister Jessica won last week's LPGA Tour event.
Meanwhile rookie Australian pro Gabriela Ruffels picked up the first pay cheque of what is anticipated to be a long and successful career by finishing tied-36th on a sponsor's invitation after rounds of 73-70-71-72.
Ruffels picks up more than $US11,000 for her efforts.
Legendary former world No. 1 Annika Sorenstam, who lives at Lake Nona and who played her first LPGA event since 2008, shot a closing 76 to finish 74th.
