The Vines red hot for International Women’s Golf Day
by Golf Australia
The Vines Resort in WA celebrated International Women’s Golf Day in style on June 1, with over 100 women donning the famous red and white of WGD to tee it up.
Women’s Golf Day, now in its sixth year, is a unique, one-day event that aims to unite women and girls through golf across the globe – where beginners can experience golf for the first time and current players can engage with other women interested in golf.
In recognition of this innovative day, PGA Professional Mark Tibbles and Community Instructor Anna-Maria England of the Vines Golf Resort hosted a golf day with 56 members and 44 beginners taking part.
In a true testament to the work Mark and Anna-Maria are doing to increase women’s participation at the facility, 57 of the golfers on the day originated from their Women’s Get Into Golf program ‘Gotta Get Golfing.’
The Get Into Golf program provides participants with an introduction to the game, with plenty of opportunities to explore skills and to build confidence in preparation to hit the golf course.
Anna-Maria said, “The day was a great success with everyone having fun on the golf course, staying for lunch and heading home with a prize!”
