If the size of the field (49 men and 30 women) was any guide, SA Senior golfers were more than keen to get back into the Senior Order of Merit competition after the winter layout and odd lock-down associated restrictions. Warm sunshine plus a strong northerly greeted players at the Fleurieu Peninsula course south of Adelaide. The course was superbly presented with the greens being particularly noteworthy - rolling true and at a good speed. Given the amount of rain SA saw in July this was a testament to the efforts of the greens staff. Victor Harbor is not a long course but it will punish those who stray and this seemed to be the order of the day with only two players breaking 80 and a number of the top fancies having “off days” by their standards. Men’s Seniors went to former State player (and member of the 2020 winning Blackwood Senior Pennant side) in Glen McGough whilst another member of that side in Lindsay Elliott took out the Men’s Super Seniors.

Nigel Turner (Links Lady Bay), Brian Welsh (Glenelg) and Mark Potter (The Vines of Reynella) filled the Senior places whilst Chris Everett and Jim Richards from Tea Tree Gully were in contention, as usual, in the Super Seniors.

In the Women's Seniors, Lyn Hood from Thaxted Park maintained her consistent form to win the gross section from Josephine Ricourt of Glenelg and Karen Brien from Blackwoood.

Jenny Butcher from Mt Osmond took out the Women's Super Senior gross title from Rosemary Underwood, Angela Masters and Paula White adding to the spoils for the Blackwood Golf Club. Men’s Senior Net went to McGough from Boyd Austin (The Vines) followed by Welsh. Best Men’s Super Seniors Net was Elliott from Martin Brown (Grange) and local Mike Howard. A special mention should be made of club stalwart, Keith Michelmore’s effort after spending the morning on course preparation as a volunteer. The Women’s Nett results were essentially the same as the Gross augmented by yet more Blackwood representatives in Marg Rawlinson and Brenda Mitchell in the Super Seniors.
