Tasmanian Challenge Event Tees Off
by Contributor
Teeing off this Sunday at the Launceston Golf Club in Kings Meadows is the 2020 Tasmanian Women’s Stroke and Stableford Challenge.
The new event, formerly known as then Tasmanian Business Women’s Tournament, has attracted a large, enthusiastic and elite field of competitors.
Among the favourites to take out this year’s stroke title is Tasmania Golf Club young gun Mackenzie Wilson who will be keen to place her mark on the event.
The 16-year-old will tee off in the final group at 9.30am alongside Tasmanian golfing legend Lindy Goggin from Royal Hobart Golf Club and Devonport’s Lainie Thorn.
There is sure to be some phenomenal golf with Wilson currently playing off scratch and Goggin off a handicap of two.
Other competitors to keep an eye on include Prospect Vale Golf Club’s Tammy Hall, Royal Hobart’s Anne Medlycott and local members Maree Coulson and Jorjah Bailey.
Of the 48 entries received, twelve will be competing in the stableford section with Libby Lawson keen to put her local knowledge to the test against the best in the state.
Bridport’s Trish Nichol, Ulverstone Golf Club’s Fleur King and Toni Robson from the Launceston Golf Club will also be out to claim the stableford title.
