by Golf Australia
Golf Australia is thrilled to partner with Special Olympics Australia and from term 2, 2021 offer a ‘MyGolf for All’ program through Sporting Schools.
The program aims to increase the skills of coaches and teachers to provide a variety of engaging programs to cater for students will intellectual disabilities and autism.
Golf Australia education and training co-ordinator Johanna Tilden said the importance and value of this partnership could not be understated.
“The relationship we have built with Special Olympics in delivering this new co-branded offering is crucial to setting our MyGolf Sporting Schools program up for ongoing success and ensuring we have a product that suits the needs of special schools across the country,” Tilden said.
“We have a growing network of suitably qualified PGA all abilities coaches and all abilities community instructors keen to deliver these MyGolf for All programs through Sporting Schools.
“They will be provided access to further quality training and resources through Special Olympics to develop their confidence in teaching children with disabilities.” Special Olympics Australia already offers inclusive programs in schools called ‘Playing for All,’ with MyGolf for All enabling children to progress into golf-specific games and activities.
This in-school pathway will help children with intellectual disabilities or autism to further their golfing journey after school into club-based MyGolf All Abilities.
The MyGolf for All program will be available through the Sporting Schools booking system from term 2, 2021, with club-based MyGolf All Abilities programs already running at many golf clubs and facilities across Australia.
