Slater, Marx lead Tas Open

Victoria’s Keeley Marx and Queenslander Sam Slater are the first-round leaders in the 2022 Women’s Tasmanian Open Golf Championship at Kingston Beach Golf Club. Marx, the Heritage Golf and Country Club member carded a four-under-par round of 67 to lead South Australia’s Caitlin Peirce in the wome's Open by one stroke on three-under 68. Peirce, the current Tasmanian amateur champion, is two strokes clear of third placed Sheridan Clancy of Western Australia on one-under par 70. Launceston Golf Club’s Zahara Lemon is the leading Tasmanian in fifth place on one-over-par. Brisbane Golf Club’s Slater leads the men’s Tasmanian Open by one stroke from fellow club member Sam Howse. Slater returned a six-under-par 65 during today’s afternoon round while Howse carded in better conditions this morning.

Fellow Queenslander James Mee is placed third on four-under-par and is followed by Prospect Vale’s Ronan Filgate and Victoria’s Toby Walker in equal fourth on three-under.
