Aryan Sharma has gifted Spring Valley a semi-finals berth in the 2019 Victorian Junior Pennant Finals after his heroics in the sudden-death playoff at Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club yesterday.

Sharma, the number seed for Spring Valley, levelled the quarter-final contest with Kooringal at three matches apiece after closing out his match against Cameron Taylor on the 18th hole for a 2up victory.

For the sudden death playoff, both teams elected to send their number 1s straight back in and the pair continued down the par-four first hole.

Both players rose to the occasion, hitting booming drives and making regulation pars to see the playoff extend to the tricky 146m par-three second.

Ultimately it was Sharma who prevailed after hitting a superb tee shot to within 20 feet of the tucked left pin, making par to Taylor’s bogey and sending Spring Valley on its way to the semi-finals in the process.

In the earlier contests, Riverside Essendon completed a convincing 5&1 victory over the No.1 seeds in Latrobe and will play Spring Valley in the first semi-final next week.

Riverside Essendon has had to do it the hard way, defeating The National in a playoff on Saturday to qualify as the eigth seeds before taking down the No.1 seeds yesterday.

The second semi-final will see Barwon Heads take on Victoria after both teams secured comfortable victories over Royal Melbourne and Settlers Run respectively.

The semi-finals will take place at Churchill-Waverley Golf Club on Saturday December 7 and the final will be held on Sunday December 8 at The National (Long Island) Golf Club.
