Golf Australia was thrilled to present $11,000 to the Royal Women’s Hospital recently following the completion of the 2019 RWH 4BBB.

CEO of the Women’s Foundation, Sarah Bernard was on hand to receive the cheque, where she outlined the important work of the hospital.

The RWH is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health of all women and newborns. The hospital advocates for new approaches to women’s health and has always recognised the different health challenges that women face throughout their lives.

Each year, the RWH provides in excess of 250,000 episodes of care for women from 189 countries, who speak 90 different languages and follow 69 separate religious faiths.

Nearly 130 clubs participated in the 2019 RWH 4BBB event which saw Vanessa Elders and Amanda Lee from Rosebud taking the honours at the State Final.

2020 will see a revised format, with the event played as a club-based virtual event only. Winners will be determined based on their score at club level, with the winning pair receiving the opportunity to play a round of golf at Royal Melbourne Golf Club. The runners up will receive a round of golf at Kingston Heath Golf Club.

Prizes will also be awarded to the winning pair in each District, as well as the six leading scores from the Metropolitan area.

“Golf Australia is pleased to continue our relationship with the Royal Women’s Hospital, and to support its valuable work,” Therese Magdulski, Golf Australia’s Victorian State Manager said.

“The event remains special on our schedule, however with a desire to implement our Vision 2025 strategies with a priority to attract younger people to the game in innovative and more accessible ways, and increasing challenges in securing host venues for Victoria’s large event program, the decision was made to contest the event at club level only,” she said.

Clubs may schedule events from 1 January until 30 October.

Golf Australia looks forward to being able to provide the hospital with much-needed funds via the generosity of our women’s golf community in 2020.
