Royal Hobart poised to dominate teams events
by Contributor
Tasmania’s club teams’ championships for men and women tee off at the Royal Hobart Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. Fourteen teams of four competitors representing clubs from around the state will vie for the prestigious men’s Claremont Shield. While five teams will tee up for the inaugural women’s intrastate club team’s championship. Royal Hobart Golf Club’s Joey Bower, Joshua Hill, Richard Kube and Paul Read are keen to defend their title won last year at Devonport Golf Club. Tasmania are expected to perform well and will be represented by Stuart Bonnitcha, Mark Schulze and emerging young guns Dylan Backhouse and Lachlan White. I would also recommend keeping a close eye on Launceston Golf Club’s Brett Churchill, Matt Marston, Mitch Van Noord and Shayne Walker. Royal Hobart’s Zibeth Daubenton, Lindy Goggin, Hallie Meaburn and Debbie Taylor will tee up as favourites on home soil in the women’s event. While Prospect Vale’s Julie Berne, Lily Caelli, Lindsay French and Tammy Hall will challenge for the women’s title. The event format sees competitors participate in eighteen holes of foursomes on Saturday afternoon followed by singles on Sunday.
