Queenslanders dominated the South Australian Junior Amateur at Kooyonga today, with Emerald Lakes Golf Club pulling off the major double.

Fifteen-year-old Kai Komulainen and 14-year-old Sarah Hammett won the state titles, both representing Emerald Lakes, while Millie Komulainen, younger sister of Kai, also won the girls’ net title.

Gold Coast star Kai Komulainen, winner of last year’s Gary Player Classic 15 years section, shot rounds of 74-75-73 to post six over and win the boys’ championship by two shots from Dujuan Snyman of Links Hope Island.

Hammett, a previous winner of the Queensland girls’ championship, shot 82-78-76 to post 14 over par and win by five shots. She was the second-youngest player in the girls' field and boasts a bright future.

A field of 58 players took part at Kooyonga, with late border closures slashing the number of interstate competitors.

A bunch of New South Wales players had to withdraw, and some Queensland players who’d travelled to NSW in the past fortnight.

Kooyonga is preparing for the Australian Amateur next month.
