Haruhi Nakatani from the Surfers Paradise Golf Club has won the girls’ division of the 2021 Tasmanian Junior Masters while fellow Queenslander Kai Komulainen was putting the finishing touches on his brilliant campaign in Tasmania.

The 14-year-old Nakatani dominated the opposition by a massive 15 strokes with rounds of 66, 71, 70 and 72, a 13 under par total of 279.

Nakatani’s nearest rival, fellow Queenslander Sarah Hammett, placed second on two over par 294 with scores of 72, 74, 73 and 75.

Tasmania Golf Club’s Mackenzie Wilson was the leading Tasmanian placing third on three-over-par 295 with 73, 77, 76 and 69.

The 15-year-old Komulainen won his second Tasmanian event in five days – and his third in a fortnight including the SA Junior Amateur in Adelaide.

The Emerald Lakes junior shot nine-under-par rounds of 70, 70, 68 and 71 279 to win the championship by one stroke from Victoria’s Michael Song.

Song returned 68, 70, 73 and 69 for his eight-under total of 280.

Queensland’s Harry Takis rounded out the top three at four-under-par with 75, 69, 70 and 70.

Royal Hobart Golf Club’s Hunter Gillard was the leading Tasmanian in equal eighth place on 14-over.
