Ocean Grove Golf Club
This picturesque Golf Club is located on the eastern bank of the Barwon River in the rapidly growing coastal town and holiday resort of Ocean Grove. The course sits across the river from the ‘Sea Change’ township of Barwon Heads – and is bounded on the north by the Connawarre Sate Game Reserve with its abundance of native flora and fauna – in particular a variety of bird species. The reserve includes mangroves that are amongst the most southerly in Australia. Ocean Grove is on the Bellarine Peninsula – 25 minutes from Geelong and 90 minutes from the Melbourne CBD via the Geelong Freeway and the Bellarine Highway. The short but challenging Course boasts challenging greens and a number of water carries that will challenge any golfer. In its normal configuration, the course features 18 tees and 12 greens – including 2 double greens. Over summer – in keeping with its holiday location – the course is configured as a 12-hole layout to give better public access for ‘Green Fee’ players. During this time all players hit off the ‘Yellow’ markers. The Club is water self sufficient through the capture of storm water stored in two recently constructed dams. This ensures all year round playability even in severe drought and provides green fairways and tees as well as high quality greens. The Course caters for all golfing levels from juniors and beginners, up to the low marker. It is open all year round for green fee players and members and offers outstanding value for money. The Ocean Grove Golf Club is run by volunteers overseen by a Committee of Management who have all worked together to to build a fantastic club in its relatively short life.
