Mt Osmond SA SOOM identifies the best players
by Golf Australia
Despite 26 degrees, sunshine and excellent course condition, the effect a brisk south-easter on the hills and slopes of Mt Osmond saw many contenders fall by the wayside and three of SA’s best seniors in Bruce Lindner, Chris Everett and Lorry Brown come out on top in their respective divisions.
The field consisted of 25 Seniors, 39 Super Seniors and 8 Women – a good turn-out. Whilst number of women participants was a little down with many of the keen Blackwood Golf Club contingent engaged elsewhere, their representatives still featured with the ever-green Lorry Brown adding to her many trophies with the Women’s Gross by one stroke from clubmate, Paula White. Mt Osmond’s Briony Williams won the Nett from Paula White with yet another Blackwood player in Helen Brauer, third. Bruce Lindner took out his first win of the season in the Men’s Senior. Bruce is a noted good wind player and his 5 shot margin confirmed this. Local Fanis Katsarelias, playing his first full season came in second from consistent performer Peter Shaw. The Men’s Super Seniors went to the greatly experienced, Chris Everett from clubmate Phil Smith ensuring that Tea Tree Gully featured as usual. George Cleland (The Vines) took third. George’s Nett 68 was also good enough, just pipping Mt Osmond’s Sam Robertson (69). Last rounds first-out Senior Nett winner Simon Pritchard showed it was no way “first time lucky” with a 66 – a comfortable margin from Boyd Austin and Peter Pavy. Event Results > Click Here
