Minjee Lee has played her way into the final group at the Ladies European Tour’s Dubai event, chasing her first win of 2020.

The Australian, who has travelled to Dubai for the unique-format event as the LPGA Tour has a break, shot a second-round 65 with eight birdies at the Faldo course at Emirates Golf Club to move to seven-under, just two from the lead held by Caroline Hedwell of Sweden.

The 54-hole Moonlight Classic finishes tonight under lights with a 5pm start, with Hedwell, Meghan MacLaren and Lee in the last group.

Sydney’s Steph Kyriacou (two-under, tied 15th) also is having a good week as her fine LET season continues.

The 24-year-old Lee, a five-time LPGA Tour winner, was grateful to get her round finished early in the Dubai heat.

“I don’t mind being inside until tomorrow’s afternoon round because it is so hot out here and I’m just going to trust I’ve done enough practice last week before I came out here,” she said.

“There are a few shows on my Netflix that aren’t available in America such as a few Korean dramas. I felt like I watched all of the American shows while we were in lockdown the first time, so I am happy to see some new options.”

MEANWHILE Gabi Ruffels continues to impress as she completes her college career with some starts on invitations in pro events.

Ruffels, the 20-year-old Melburnian who last year won the US Amateur, shot a third-round 68 to sit tied-fifth in the Symetra Tour Championship in North Carolina. LET leaderboard
