Metropolitan Golf Club will spearhead The Longest Day in 2019 with a star-studded team line up.

Team Metro will comprise recently appointed Golf Australia Chair and Metropolitan Member Andrew Newbold, Australian golf icon Mike Clayton, Victorian State Team Captain Blake Collyer, and Golf Australia staffer Michelle Hui.

In addition, two of the club’s very successful fundraising members from the 2018 event will go around again, in John Hudson and Ken Wilson. Nine players in total will set out to complete the four rounds on Saturday 21 December.

“I’m really looking forward to the challenge,” said Andrew Newbold, Golf Australia Chairman.

“This is a great initiative and Golf Australia is very pleased to continue our association with the Cancer Council through The Longest Day, and hopefully we can raise some vital funds to support the ongoing research and prevention of skin cancer.”

The Longest Day is now in its seventh year. It is a 72-hole endurance golf challenge raising funds for Cancer Council Victoria. It challenges players to contest 72 holes of golf on a single day, between dawn and dusk, and can be played on any day in December.

The Longest Day is easy to sign up for and a whole lot of fun.

“Golf Australia encourages all clubs and golfers to get involved in this worthwhile cause,” Therese Magdulski, Golf Australia’s Victorian State Manager said.

“Those who have participated in previous years have found it an extremely rewarding experience,” she said.
