Local star Hallie Meaburn and Queenslander Blaike Perkins will take the No. 1 seedings into the matchplay phase of the Tasmanian Amateur at Mowbray tomorrow.

Meaburn, from Royal Hobart, won the women’s 36-hole strokeplay title by a shot with rounds of 69-74 today. A birdie at the par-four 18th hole set up her victory.

A trio of Queenslanders – Haruhi Nakatani, Sarah Wilson and Sarah Hammett – were just behind her.

Meaburn won the Tasmanian Junior Amateur earlier this year. Her grandmother, Lindy Goggin, is one of the state’s greatest-ever sports stars.

Perkins shot rounds of 68-70 today to win the men’s strokeplay title by two shots from Tasmania’s Jack Lakin.

Among those who also progressed to the top eight and the matchplay phase are South Australian Jack Buchanan and Queenslander Lewis Hoath, both accomplished amateurs. Men's strokeplay Women's strokeplay
