Minjee Lee warmed up for the LPGA Tour championship with a brilliant final-round 68 to finish in the top three at the Toto Japan Classic today.

It was the second, consecutive top-three finish for the Western Australian after her runner-up finish in Taiwan last week.

After a week’s break, the top 70 players on the tour head to Florida for the $US 5 million finale to the season.

Lee is ranked fourth on the season-long points standings, jumping a spot this week.

After a stunning 2018 she has backed up with another fine season in 2019, and she shapes as a strong chance to win the tour championship in Florida.

Local Japan tour star Ai Suzuki ran away with the Toto Championship, going bogey-free for the final two rounds and closing with a 67 on Sunday to capture her first LPGA Tour title.

She is no stranger to winning, however; it was her 15th win on the Japan Tour.

As for Lee, she took it philosophically. “Obviously would be nice to win, but we were pretty much playing for second, I think, so I just tried to make as many birdies as I could out there and just play my game,” she said.

Asked what areas she needed to improve before Florida, she said: “Maybe a little bit on my driving accuracy and just a little bit in my swing here and there, but I think I feel like my putting and short game is in a good spot right now.”

Hannah Green also had another good week, finishing tied-10th after leading through the first round. Like Lee, she goes to Florida in a strong position for the tour championship, along with Su Oh, who finished tied-32nd in Japan.
