Australia's Stephanie Kyriacou has opened with a blistering first round of 66 at the Big Green Egg Open on the Ladies European Tour overnight.

On a damp and drizzly day, at the Rosendaelsche Golf Club just outside of the historic town of Arnhem, Kyriacou, the 2020 LET Rookie of the Year, shone, carding an impressive eight birdies and only two bogies to lead by two shots from England’s Lily May Humphreys.

Starting at the tenth, St Michaels' Kyriacou got off to a bright start with a birdie, but after dropping a shot to take her back the level par on the 12th, she got down to business, made birdies on four of her next six holes.

Despite dropping another shot on the 2nd (her 11th), Kyriacou closed out her round with three more birdies to reach the clubhouse at six-under-par.

Kyriacou, 20,who won the 2020 Geoff King Motors Australian Ladies Classic Bonville while still an amateur, was pleased with her day’s work.

“I think I had a little bit of luck today, but I did also hit some pretty good shots," she said.

“I had a couple of short putts, which I holed, and I managed to sink a couple of long ones, which turned out to be six-under-par. I like the look of the course. I think I hit a fairly straight ball, so I guess I have a little bit of an advantage but there was also a little bit of luck today because if you miss the fairway, it can be like cactus there.."

The three other Aussies in the field didn’t fare as well as Kyriacou in the conditions, Western Australia’s Whitney Hillier finished at two over , while Kristalle Blum is at plus seven, and Amy Walsh plus nine.
