Grace Kim has come up trumps in just her second start on the developmental US Cactus Tour, walking away with an eight-shot win on the weekend. Kim finished the 54-hole mini-tour event at seven-under, leaving the field in hew wake at the Sun City South Golf Course in Sun City, Arizona. The 20-year-old opened with a solid first round 69, following up with rounds of 73 and 67. "I played so bad out here the first week, but so much better this week. "I couldn't make a birdie to save myself the first week, it was a longer golf course this week, yet I made a lot more birdies. "Even with that, I still had left a lot out there," she grinned. Kim, who played in the Augusta Women's Invitational last month, is in the United States readying herself for a tilt at this year's LPGA Tour qualifying school. The win, she said, was a timely one as she heads towards qualifying later in the year. "It feels good to have this one, it's motivated me to keep fishing for bigger fish." The Cactus Tour is a popular pathway for female golfers, both professional and amateur, who are readying themselves for a tilt at the LPGA, Symetra or LET. Events are held across California, Arizona, Nevada and Texas, with around 30 events held each year. Freshly minted LPGA professional Victorian Gabriela Ruffels picked up a handy win on last year's Cactus Tour, claiming a two-shot victory at an event in Nevada. Other notable winners on the Tour include Cheyenne Woods, Anna Nordqvist, rising star Hayley Moore, and gun amateur Grace Summerhays, who picked up a victory in early April.
