Hatton and Weedon win Tassie Play 9

The Tasmanian Play 9 State Final was held today in sunny conditions at Launceston Golf Club. A total of 39 golfers from clubs across the state who posted 9-hole competition scores through the period June-November 2021 qualified through a random draw to tee it up. The women’s Play 9 title was won by Riverside Golf Club member Sandra Hatton with a total of 22 points. Ulverstone Golf Club’s Jan Chugg followed closely behind in second place with 20 points. Riverside Golf Club’s Alison Henty, Prospect Vale’s Kath Ree and Burnie’s Natasha Johnstone tied for third place on the final lead board with 19 points. The men’s title was won by Frank Weedon from the Llanherne Golf Club with 19 stableford points. Weedon won the event by one point from fellow club member Doug Gibson and Mowbray’s Colin Lockhart on a total of 18. Deloraine’s Todd Blair and Ross Allison from Riverside tied for fourth place on 16 points. The winners and runners-up have won an all-expenses paid trip to the Play 9 National Final being held in early 2022, the venue and date are yet to be confirmed.
