Emerald Lakes member Dillon Hart has won the 2020 Queensland Men's Mid-Amateur Championship at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.

Hart opened the week with a three-under-par 69 to place himself on the top of the leaderboard. Hart was one of only five players to shoot even par or better in the opening round. A two-under 70 on the second day was enough to secure his spot in the final lead group of four players in his first appearance.

Commencing the final round with a four-shot lead from Scott Draper (Keperra), Hart birdied his opening hole but followed with consecutive bogies and then a further two bogies on the front nine. After gaining his composure, Hart steadied himself with a run of pars on the back nine and just a single bogey to return a four-over-par 76 in windy conditions. Hart's three round total of 217 (-1) was enough for a five shot victory.

Adam Hawkins (Palm Meadows) finished in second place on 220 (+4) after a closing round of 76. This followed his opening round of 73 (+1) and second round of 71 (-1).

Scott Draper (Keperra) finished on 221 (+5) to secure third place.

In the Upper Mid-Amateur Division (44-54 years), Graham Hourn (Kingaroy) finished on 227 (+11) to edge out Keperra Country Golf Club member Mark Draper on 230 (+14).

In the Club Teams event, it was a close battle between Emerald Lakes Golf Club and the Caboolture Golf Club. The eventual winners were the team from Emerald Lakes which comprised of Hart and Lindsay Ross. The winning score left them with a two-shot win over the team from Caboolture Golf Club.

The Bushnell NTP Challenge was held on the Monday afternoon. Each player had one attempt at a 68m pitch shot from the clubhouse to the practice green. After numerous close shots, the eventual winner was Peter Stone of Wynnum, resulting in a Bushnell Tour V5.

With a strong field of 214 players and the fantastic feedback received by players over the three days, it is certain to be "must play" event in 2021. Golf Australia would like to acknowledge the support of the host venue RACV Royal Pines Resort, Bushnell Golf and Coke.
