Greenhill notches career milestone
by Golf Australia
This week marks 30 years since David Greenhill first became a fixture in Victorian golf administration.
David began as the Victorian Golf Association’s golf programs manager and has had various positions since, including as joint interim CEO of Golf Victoria, and now serves an important position as state services manager for Golf Australia.
It is abundantly clear to all in the industry that David is a highly respected golf administrator, colleague and friend. Many have learnt so much from David with his kind and measured approach.
David has never subscribed to the world of working Monday to Friday and responds to queries at any time of the day or night.
Undoubtedly David’s greatest achievement was his vision to revitalise the Vic Open in 2012, changing it from a men’s only event to one in which men and women play simultaneously, vying for equal prize money. The event has gone from strength to strength under his vision, now featuring a prize pool of $3million.
More recently, David has been instrumental in The Longest Day of Golf, which in 2020 raised more than $3.2m for skin cancer research.
Golf Australia and the wider golf industry congratulates David on his services to golf and thanks him for being a wonderful contributor to the sport.
