Gillard too good in Super 6
Hunter Gillard with the Tasmanian Junior Super 6 trophy.

Royal Hobart Golf Club’s Hunter Gillard took out the Tasmanian Junior Super 6 competition at Ratho Farm Golf Links last week. The 16-year-old qualified for the event’s match-play rounds in third place with a three-over-par 73 on Wednesday. Defending champion and 16-year-old Riverside junior Isaac Roberts was the number one qualifier with a one-over 71. While Tasmania Golf Club’s Eli Monaghan placed second overall with a two-over-par round 72. Gillard defeated Tasmania’s Fletcher Ryan 2up, Tasmania’s Max Coventry 2&1 and Smithton’s Marty Sheehan 2&1 to qualify for his final birth. While Roberts looked set to defend his title with victories over North West Bay’s Eddison Lee 4&2 and last year’s runner-up Lachlan White from Tasmania 1up. However, it was to be Gillard who claimed the 2021 Tasmanian Junior Super 6 crown, defeating Roberts 2&1 in the final on Thursday afternoon.
