The Bell family have dominated the leaderboards of the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Championships held at Darwin and Palmerston golf clubs.

Michael Bell, Candice Bell and William Bell took out the men's, women's and senior men's titles respectively.

For Michael, it marked a successful defence of his 2022 title. Runner-up Aaron Clarke pushed all the way, with a closing round of 69 needed from Bell to clinch the championship by two strokes.

Candice also finished strong with a 75 on the final day to overcome runner-up Addi Butorac by four strokes.

Event organiser Gowan Bush was pleased with the week, even if it was on the slightly warmer side for the golfers, and was impressed with the tight competition.

"With the Tour event only a few weeks before, the course was in decent nick out at Palmerston," he said.

"Aaron Clarke and Michael Bell went head and toe throughout the tournament, up and down with Aaron leading after the third round and Belly catching him in the last round."
