For the first time in the history of the event, regional finals have been introduced to determine who will emerge victorious in the Barclay Shield.

One hundred and forty-eight women representing thirty-seven clubs have entered to contest the play-offs at Royal Hobart, Riverside and Devonport next Monday.

The championship is contested over 18-holes by teams of four players with the winning team being that with the lowest net aggregate stroke total.

The popular foursomes event commemorates Grace, Lillias and Effie Barclay who gave many years of service to Tasmanian golf.

Richmond Golf Club was victorious in 2019 and will be represented this year at Royal Hobart by Heather McConnon, Alison Salter, Sally Richardson and Diane Bailey.

Devonport’s Bev Holman, Jane Donohue, Helen Plaister and Vicki Matthews will be tough to beat on their home course.

While Prospect Vale’s Elizabeth Barber, Debbie Davey, Deidre Panton and Katrina Archer will tee off as favourites at Riverside.
