Jason Day’s surge back to top form continued at the Genesis Invitational in Los Angeles today with a 68 to open.

Day is four shots adrift of American Matt Kuchar, who rattled around Riviera in a 64. Kuchar is three shots ahead of the field after a sensational day.

Day had four birdies and a bogey on his round.

He was fourth at Pebble Beach last week in his return to golf from a back injury.

Marc Leishman was the best of the other Australians in the field, opening with a one-under 70, while Aaron Baddeley began with a 71 and Adam Scott a 72.

Tiger Woods began with a two-under par 69.
