Voted in the top 10 of the most unique courses in the world, situated 3.5km north of town centre, Coober Pedy Opal Fields Golf Club is a very unique 18 hole grassless course. It is also the only Golf Club in the world with reciprocal playing rights with the 'home of golf', St. Andrews in Scotland. The golf club is located on the outskirts of Coober Pedy and the famous opal fields, 850 kilometres north of Adelaide. The course is a par 72, 18 holes and you use a piece of artificial grass when you hit the fairway with your ball, we use scrapes, sand soaked with sump oil. Clubs and round hire is available from Old Timers Mine in Coober Pedy and souvenirs are also available. Rounds can be had at any time once fees are paid. Season club rounds on Sunday.
