Australian young gun Brett Coletta is in a good position to tilt for his first Korn Ferry Tour title in Florida this weekend. Coletta followed up his opening 63 with a two-under par 69 today at the Lecom Surfcoast Classic at Lakewood Country Club that leaves him just a shot from the lead held by American Brent Grant. The 24-year-old Victorian was happy at 10 under par overall. “It’s really nice to come out of the gates running hot,” he said. “And I finished well last year too. I know it was a four-month break, but you still get the same feel from being in contention and being around the top of the leaderboard. It’s a feeling that is hard to replicate in any other form of practice or playing with your mates. I’m ecstatic to be back in contention out here.” Coletta's previous-best finish on the Korn Ferry Tour is third place. The top 25 points earners at the end of this season will receive playing rights for the US PGA Tour. MEANWHILE IN California, Cameron Smith vaulted into the top 10 at the PGA Tour's Genesis Invitational with a second-round 68 to go with his opening 69.
