Golf Australia was thrilled to present $7402.50 to the Royal Women’s Hospital recently, following the completion of the 2021 Royal Women’s Hospital Four-ball.

General Manager of Philanthropy and Community Investment, Lisa Trainor, received the donation, where she expressed the importance of the hospital’s work.

“Thank you for your generous support of the Royal Women’s Hospital. Your donation will help to ensure a brighter future for women, newborns and families,” Ms Trainor said.

“Your special gift will give mums and babies the best chance to survive serious pregnancy complications and go home safely with their little miracle. On behalf of all of us at the Women’s, please accept our thanks and appreciation for your support,” she said.

The RWH is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health of all women and newborns. The hospital advocates for new approaches to women’s health and has always recognised the different health challenges women face throughout their lives. Each year, the RWH provides in excess of 250,000 episodes of care for women from 189 countries, who speak 90 different languages and follow 69 separate religious faiths. Nearly 60 clubs participated in the 2021 RWH 4BBB event which saw Coleraine Golf Club pair Maree Fitzgerald and Helen McIntosh taking out the honour of the overall winning pair. “We seemed to push each other along which helped us score so well. Although we are a very small club with 16 female members, we always support the RWH 4BBB,” Maree Fitzgerald said. Prizes were also awarded to the overall runner-up, as well as Regional and Metropolitan area winning pairs. “Golf Australia is pleased to present this donation and support the Royal Women’s Hospital’s continuously valuable work,” Jodi Kelly, Golf Australia’s Victorian Events Manager said. “The event is a special part of our schedule and having been run so successfully at club level in 2021, it will continue in this format into the future,” she said. Clubs may schedule events from 1 January until 30 October. Golf Australia looks forward to being able to provide the hospital with much-needed funds via the generosity of our women’s golf community in 2022. Click here for 2022 event details.
