Bennett on top at Tas Open

Kelsey Bennett soared to the lead on day two.

Kelsey Bennett from the St Michael’s Golf Club in New South Wales shot to the lead of the Women’s Tasmanian Open today at Kingston Beach. Bennett carded a second round three-under 68 to finish the day at one-under-par and two strokes in front of Belinda Ji, also from New South Wales. Ji returned a two-under 69 and is two strokes clear of third placed Shyla Singh of Queensland on three-over-par. Yerin Kim from New South Wales is placed fourth on four-over-par with a quartet of golfers tied for fifth on six-over including overnight leader and Tasmanian Hallie Meaburn. Meanwhile, South Australia’s Jack Buchanan remains at the top of the men’s leader board, but is joined by Joshua Fuller of New South Wales. The pair are tied for the lead at eight-under-par after Fuller returned a five-under 66 and Buchanan carded a two-under 69 today. Ulverstone Golf Club’s Craig Walker is five shot behind in third place on three-under after a fine 69 this afternoon. Victoria’s Toby Walker and Queensland’s Blaike Perkins and Conor Whitelock are all tied at fourth on two-under par.
