Aussies On Tour: Nov 16

Only two professional tournaments to settle down to this weekend, but our Australians made their presence felt.

Rookie pro Steph Kyriacou's dazzling 2020 continued in Saudi Arabia, the St Michael's member battling hard over the weekend to crack the top five once again on the Ladies European Tour.

The 19-year-old has now all but locked up Rookie of the Year honours after recording a fourth top five in her past six starts on the LET.

Kyriacou now sits fourth on the season long Race To Costa Del Sol, an incredible effort considering she had never even visited Europe before this year.

But halfway around the world golf fans tuned in to watch the year's third and final men's major - and it was one we'll never forget.

Marc Leishman notched his third top 15 finish at Augusta National in his eighth trip, the Victorian finding form over a disjointed four days.

But it was his closest mate on Tour and Australia's next big thing in Cam Smith who gave weary Australian fans back home something to cheer about right until the death.

The 27-year-old Queenslander made Masters history by becoming the first player in the tournament's 84-year history to shoot in the 60s across all four days.

Alongside Presidents Cup teammate Sungjae Im, Smith recorded the best ever score by a non-champion, finishing at 15-under for the tournament, also the tied-eighth best score in history.

Smith nabbed a share of the halfway lead and while he couldn't keep pace with Dustin Johnson on Saturday, he led the field's last ditch attempt on Sunday at Augusta and pushed the American all the way.

So for a first major runner-up finish and giving it everything until the better end, we're proud to name Cam Smith as our latest #AussieOfTheWeek!
