Aussies On Tour: December 9

by Golf Australia

AOT Dec 9 Matt Jones

All eyes were on Sydney last week but our Australian touring pros were busy on the world's biggest tours around the globe.

In Seychelles, stalwart Peter Fowler continued his run at the top of the men's senior game with a one-shot win on the Staysure Tour.

The men's Japan Tour finale featured four Australians and it finished with a heart-breaking playoff loss for our own Brad Kennedy.

It took three sudden death holes for local Ryo Ishikawa to get the better of Kennedy in another fantastic week for the Gold Coaster.

But Australia's most prestigious championship was run and won at the weekend and there's no denying now two-time #AusOpenGolf winner Matt Jones our #AussieOfTheWeek.

The local hero was sublime on Sunday and looked the winner of the Stonehaven Cup from the outset, holding off challenges from superstars Louis Oosthuizen, Paul Casey, Marc Leishman and more.

So to Matt Jones – congratulations on being crowned the latest #AussieOfTheWeek!
