The 2021 Australian Amateur will not be played in January and will be rescheduled for later in the first part of 2021.

Golf Australia is currently working through various Covid-19 related matters and by delaying the championship by one or two months, will provide time for Golf Australia to deliver a high-quality event for as many players as possible.

"We want to deliver a premier championship and a February or March date will stand us in good stead to deliver on that promise", Therese Magdulski, Golf Australia's Interim General Manager - Events & Operations said.

"It is also hoped the delay by one or two months may see more state borders open and less quarantining for competitors when they return to their own states," she said.

2021 sees the first year of the revamped championship which will be played over 72-holes stroke play, with a 156 combined men's and women's field on the same course.

The move to stroke play will also deliver a more contemporary format and showcases the best of amateur golf.

Golf Australia will announce the confirmed date and venue in the coming weeks.
