Girls revelling at 13th Beach
by Golf Australia
MyGolf facility Thirteenth Beach Golf Links is making waves with its MyGolf Girls junior program.
The club, which also hosts the Vic Open, is one of many MyGolf facilities currently receiving additional social media marketing support from Golf Australia for running a MyGolf Girls program, as well as funding for activating a one-day MyGolf Girls session.
The support ties in with the upcoming International Day of the Girl on 11 October, run by UNICEF each year to support girls to amplify their voice and stand up for their rights.
Thirteenth Beach’s first week of MyGolf Girls school holiday programs boasted a full session with a blend of new and returning faces enjoying beautiful spring conditions on the Bellarine Peninsula.
MyGolf deliverer Anthony Bergin led the girls, breaking the session into various skills such as pitching, putting and full swing.
To promote fun and engagement, the girls had the chance to create their own team names, leading to ‘Team Juice’ against ‘Team Jelly’.
The session was predominantly games based, such as chipping closest to the flag or using buckets as targets for team points.
The competition had a close finish, with Team Juice almost pulling off a miraculous come-from-behind victory, but Anthony ultimately declared a memorable tie.
The girls celebrated the fun session by enjoying a chocolate or ice cream after their day of golf.
These MyGolf Girls programs will continue throughout the school holidays and Anthony is looking to continue the programs into the term because of their success.
