At the crack of dawn 52 juniors assembled on the back nine of Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club in today’s Rookie Series event. Overcast and calm weather made the conditions ideal for low scoring.

Phoenix Diaz came in with the equal low round of the day after carding a fantastic level-par 36 for top honours in the under 9 boys section. Diaz has captured the under 9’s title every time he has teed it up this year excluding just one occasion at Eastern Golf Club. This takes his tally of victories to five for the season. Caiden Xing blitzed the field in the handicap segment with a stellar round of 24.

Sophie Mann was once again too strong in the under 9 girls notching up yet another win with a score of 44 on tricky layout. Sydney Bayerle edged Area Tran out on a count-back for first place in the nett section.

Noah Patterson signed for a very impressive score of 36 to tie todays best score and claim top spot in the under 12 boys section. Jesse Trembath carded a nett tally with 24 – 12 shots better than his handicap! The under 12 girls title went to Portal Hall with a round of 46 while 28 from Tiana Baba was more than good enough for the handicap honours.

Kiandra Hughes used all her local knowledge to sign off for a four-over par 40 and first place in the under 16 girls sector. Aaron Tran walked home with the under 16 boys title firing 37 while Angus Hawksworth prevailed on a count-back in the handicap section after carding 32 this morning.
