One million remains up for grabs in 2020

Outback Queensland Masters 2020
$1M Hole-In-One remains up for grabs in 2020.

The hotly contested $1 million hole-in-one is still up for grabs in 2020 following the last leg of the inaugural Outback Queensland Masters staged in Mount Isa over the weekend.

Attracting over eight hundred competitors and social players from all over Australia, the inaugural Outback Queensland Masters generated thousands of additional room nights and is poised to expand into new outback locations for 2020.

Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the tournament would reach new heights in 2020. This year we welcomed the first-ever Outback Queensland Masters, an innovative new event to encourage people to get out and explore the far reaches of our state.

"People loved this year's events and we expect the 2020 series of tournaments to be bigger and better, providing even more opportunity for people to tee off amongst the epic scenery of Outback Queensland.

"The Queensland Government, via Tourism and Events Queensland, supports events because they attract visitors and create jobs in the tourism sector.

"It is important that we continue to grow and support tourism in Outback Queensland, which already contributes an estimated $355 million to the region's economy."

"In addition to spurring interest in young people of remote areas of Queensland to take an interest in golf, we are delighted to see the golf clubs gain exposure and financial benefit through the Outback Queensland Masters. Golf Australia is extremely proud of the role the golf clubs have played this year and we look forward to working with the new clubs next year." said Luke Bates, Golf Operations and State Senior Manager - Queensland, Golf Australia.

"The $1 million dollar hole-in-one challenge will again be up for grabs in 2020," explained Luke Bates. "We're so please to announce the series locations for next year, including Biloela, Charleville, Quilpie, Blackall, Hughenden and Longreach."

Mayor of Longreach Regional Council, Cr Ed Warren announced, "We are excited that Longreach will be the location for the $1 million hole-in-one challenge as the pinnacle to the 2020 Outback Queensland Masters. Longreach is iconic in the history and culture of Outback Queensland and we're looking forward to hosting this fantastic event in our community."

"It will be an exciting addition to the calendar and next year as we showcase our region to the world."
