Oh heads Aussies in Canada

Victorian Su Oh, Sarah Kemp from New South Wales and Perth’s Minjee Lee all made strong starts in the LPGA Tour’s Canadian Open today.

Oh, whose influence and consistency is growing by he day, shot a four-under par 68 with five birdies and a bogey to lead the Australians in a tie for 11th.

She is three shots from the lead held by American Annie Park at 65 after the opening round at Magna Golf Club in Ontario.

Oh, 23, is ranked inside the top 30 players on the LPGA Tour this year with two top-10 finishes and $US350,000 prizemoney.

Defending champion Brooke Henderson also is in the mix after an opening 66 along with world No. 1 Jin Young Ko.

Lee and Kemp are at three-under, tied for 16th, while fellow-Australians Katherine Kirk and Hannah Green are at one-under and Robyn Choi, who pre-qualified, shot a starting 78.
