Moyne Senior Classic Results

2017 Winners
L-R: Susan Lush, Helen Pascoe, Henk Van De Ven & Gordon Claney

The Moyne Senior Classic has wrapped up in fantastic style today at Port Fairy Golf Club. The weather turned it on again for the players who enjoyed remarkably still conditions and a lovely 24 degrees.

Gordon Claney (Kingston Heath GC) found his best form when it counted most and recorded an outstanding score of 68 today to finish 4-under for the tournament and claim first prize in the 2017 Moyne Senior Classic. The runner-up was Robert Wallace of Midlands who followed up his 74 yesterday with another great round of 75 to finish 5 over for the tournament.

Helen Pascoe (Buninyong GC) executed a magnificent come from behind today win today to claim the first women’s scratch trophy of the 2018 calendar. Helen trailed Sue Dawes (Yarrawonga Mulwala GC) by 4 scratch points after round 1 but showed her true determination in shooting a 1-under 71 today. Ultimately Sue Dawes fell just short by 2 points but nonetheless it was an outstanding effort by her.

In the women’s stableford event, many excellent scores came in today and it was Susan Lush (Gardiners Run GC) who came out on top with 73 points in total for the tournament. Sandra Collingwood (Keysborough GC) did all she could to catch Susan, shooting 40 points today off a daily handicap of 8, but fell short by 1 point.

Golf Victoria would like to congratulate all winners and extend a big thank you to both Warranmbool and Port Fairy golf clubs for their amazing hospitality over the past week.
