#IntSeries: Blues burst Tassie bubble

New South Wales flexed its muscle this morning, denting but not breaking Tasmania’s men’s #IntSeries dream.

The young Blues were pushed hard by the hosts at Tasmania Golf Club, but in a scoreline that belied a generally tight tussle, New South Wales prevailed 6-1 to put one toe in Friday afternoon’s final.

Should NSW beat Victoria this afternoon, the Blues would be assured of a spot in the decider.

Victoria, similarly, was pushed to the brink by Western Australia until the final 20 minutes of a great contest that largely fell the defending champions’ way, with a 5-2 result again flattering the victor.

Victoria plays Tasmania on Friday morning, so nothing is guaranteed even if it can topple fellow unbeaten side NSW this afternoon.

A lot will come down to this afternoon’s match between Tasmania and Western Australia. The visitors must win to keep their mathematical hopes alive, but the Tasmanians would put their fate back in their own hands with a win and a Victorian loss.
