Dallas Brooks heats up at Metropolitan

Erica Kreymborg (Spring Valley) - Hole-In-One on 13th

Hot conditions greeted players for the top 16 matches of the Sir Dallas Brooks Trophy. The first day of match play saw some close contests throughout.

Glenn Beckett (PGA) and Melinda Crawford (Berwick Montuna) upset the top qualifers Kim Hastie & Sam Van Der Venne (Metropolitan) in a tight battle 2/1. Jason Johnson (The National) & Stephanie Wearne (Victoria) proved to solid for Bernie & Nancy Bickerton closing out the match on the 17th for a 2/1 victory.

Michael Sund (PGA) & Jesika Clark (Victoria) showed they are a team to watch over the next two days as they romped to a convincing 6/4 victory over Peter Handbury & Merrie Harkness (Royal Melbourne). Tim Sweeney & Lorinda Hartley (Penisula-Kingswood) defeated Lewis & Elizabeth Coyle (Metropolitan) in a close fought match 2/1.

Erica Kreymborg (Spring Valley) provided the highlight of the day, scoring her official first hole-in-one on the 113m par 3 13th hole with a 7iron. Well done Erica! Teaming up with Greg Ebinger (Spring Valley) the pair defeated Heath Jones (PGA) & Janine Williams (Warragul) 3/2.

The final two matches both went down the 19th as Wayne Aigner (Sandhurst) & Val Mackintosh (Port Fairy) were victorious over Andrew & Hayley Peters (Spring Valley) whilst Chris Hanson (Broadford) & Kerry Peterson (Gisborne) booked their spot in the quarter finals after saluting against Colin & Fiona Love (Yarra Yarra).

The quarter finals and semi finals will take place tomorrow starting at 8am with the final played on Friday morning.
