After receiving so many interesting and creative responses for the Golf Month 2018 competition, it was extremely difficult picking just one winner!

Congratulations to Darren Downie from VIC who submitted the following entries:

42 years ago, as a 12y old, l asked my dad to take me to play golf, as excited as he was he made me go up to the soccer oval and learn how to hit the ball before he allowed me on a course. 4 weeks later he dropped me at "Royal Ringwood", "you couldn't do that now!!!!" As he picked me up l showed him my score card for 9, a 50. I never saw him so excited. Last week my 12y son asked me the same thing so l did the same thing, off to the driving range to learn a few basics and get a feel for it before we hit the course. Fingers crossed it won’t be long until he and l are treading the fairways playing this great/ frustrating game. Good news, now my daughter wants to play …… to the range

Update:  Hi Guys l couldn't help myself but to give you an update. I entered the competition a couple of weeks ago and was introducing my son to Golf. We did the free game activity at Sandringham 2 weeks ago and he loved it. He wanted to play again this week so l took him down to Brighton yesterday afternoon and bugger me dead he's left his first par put short by 2cm then 3 holes later smacked a drive 220m down the middle, out driven his dad (not happy Jan !!!) nailed a 5 iron 120m to the front edge and 2 putted for his first par. I've never been so excited, high fives and fist pumps all round. I think the Oct of Golf has done the job and my son is a convert.

Cheers Darren PS he did drop 2 balls into the dam the very next hole ...........Golf!!!!!!
