About The Course

The Lakes will be in prime condition for the 2018 Emirates Australian Open.

The Lakes Golf Club, established in 1928, is one of Sydney’s most prestigious private golf clubs and home to one of the most challenging championship layouts in Australia.

The Lakes has long been a major tournament venue having hosted many events including six previous Australian Opens, the Australian PGA championship, the Johnnie Walker Classic, Greg Norman Holden International and the ANZ Championship.

The course continues to maintain its reputation as a great challenge to any golfer and is renowned for its presentation, including its reputation as one of the best wet-weather courses in Sydney. The final nine holes borders the Botany Sand Beds Aquifer and wetlands area, has an abundance of wildlife, scenic views and a range of tempting golf shots -- all of which makes a round of golf at The Lakes a memorable experience. The Lakes is in a unique environmental location and because of the historical significance of the site, the club takes great pride in its approach to environmental issues.

Kikuyu grass fairways and A4 bent grass greens are presented in excellent playing condition year-round. This is consistent with the club's long-standing strategy of maintaining the course at championship standard at all times and remains a primary focus of the club's board and management. The Lakes was most recently redesigned by course architects Ogilvy Clayton in 2009.

Before or after a round of golf, visitors are welcome to enjoy refreshments and take advantage of the panoramic views of the course and surrounding wetland provided by our modern and contemporary clubhouse.
